Halloween is finally here – that one day and night of the year when we deck out our homes with disturbing décor, indulge in all things pumpkin related and dress up in the scariest costumes for trick or treating. But, if like me, you are tired of the usual humdrum and are desperately after something quirky yet creepy this Halloween, look no further than our Sugar Skulls range- a great alternative for Halloween that can be used for the rest of the year too.
The Ghost of Sugared Skulls Past
Mexico’s most famous holiday, Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead takes place annually between 31st October- 2nd November and allows Mexicans to come together and remember friends and family that have died in the last year. Sugared skulls or calaveras de azúcar are small sugary candies shaped as a skull and decorated with sweets and sugar that are created and sold during the holiday period. They come in all shapes, sizes, colours and designs and decorate the streets of Mexico.
The Ghost of Sugared Skulls Present
Sugared Skulls have started to enjoy widespread popularity outside of Mexico recently as more and more people see them as less of a piece of yummy candy and more of an intricately designed work of art. Today, sugared skull patterns can be seen as part of tattoo designs, on the back of mobile phone cases, as part of clothing ranges and even adorned by celebrities like Kate Hudson who had a face painted as a sugared skull for a Hollywood Halloween party last week.
The Ghost of Sugared Skulls Future
Our Sugared Skulls range offers a great alternative to those who want to move away from the standard, unexciting and far from chilly décor that is currently available on the market. I just absolutely love how the concept fuses frightful grunge with lots of sophisticated design to create an eclectic geometric mix. And because it doesn’t scream Halloween glaringly in your face– you can keep it all year round too. An investment worth getting creeped out about!
