A little while ago, Sugar and Vice was asked to make custom cake stands for The Velvet Cake Co in Cape Town. For this, I used their current wallpaper patterns as inspiration and filled these geometric shapes with a variety of doodles. I tried to think of what it would be like to was decorate a cake and made them in four different colours – faded blue, pink, green and white – just like icing.

The Velvet Cake Co. expanded their store in Bellville and opened a new shop on the 26 October in Loop Street, Cape Town. This new shop is absolutely gorgeous – I was just wowed! My two favourite things is the amazing quiches that they make – the roast chicken, peppadews and pineapple being my favourite and the fact that you can buy a cupcake for a friend which they can then collect whenever they want. Pretty damn rad!
